Recycling at Missouri S&T

Paper Products 

Acceptable Items:

  • Copy/printer paper
  • Notebook paper
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Soft cover books
  • Books w/ hard covers removed
  • Small boxes 
  • Large cardboard recycling can be taken to the cardboard recycling cages available at the service entrances of most academic and administrative buildings.

Non Acceptable Items:

  • Paper towels/Kleenex
  • Binder clips
  • Hard cover books
  • 3-ring binders
  • Wire spirals

 

Plastics

Acceptable Items

  • #1 PETE (plastic drink bottles, water bottles, etc)
  • #2 HDPE (milk jugs) plastics are accepted.

Non-Acceptable Items

  • Grocery bags
  • Plastics #3-7
  • Bottle Caps

 

Aluminum

  • Small aluminum cans 
  • Soda cans
  • Soup cans

Batteries

Battery recycling is handled through the Environmental Health & Safety Department.

Electronics

Electronics are also recycled by calling the Surplus Office at 573-341-6150 or e-mailing Greg Hook.

In the email ensure to describe the state of the electronic, and whether it is functioning or not.

Glass

Glass is only collected at the Havener Center. Glass is collected along with the other municipal recyclables.
